CD, floppy and tape drives

CD-roms, floppies and other devices can make noise too, fortunately they don't make noise all the time... I've included this section mostly for completeness since I don't have any problems with these type of noises myself.

cdroms

Fast CD-roms and DVD drives can make a lot of noise when active. This can be particularly annoying when watching DVD movies. The easy way to fix this is to use the program CD bremse. (German for CD brake) If you prefer to see the text in english translated by the Babelfish, click here.

Another way is to simply get a more quiet CD drive, I will post more information about this in the future.

I don't really have any information about quiet floppy and tape drives yet, but go on to the next page where I describe ways to make the entire computer more quiet.
